11 Ultimate Hip-Hop Trios

New Wu

With the dream-team of Ghostface, Raekwon & Method Man forming like Voltron possibly even before ’09 kicks the bucket, heads everywhere should be drooling over the possibility of an album from the Wu-based trio.

Similarly, the three-headed monster Random Axe comprised of Black Milk, Sean Price & Guilty Simpson leaking “Monster Babies” off their upcoming collab album this year was monumental.

These combos really are dreams come true. So I got to thinking, what other combinations of MCs would hip-hop heads like to hear? Here are my choices for 11 of the ultimate hip-hop trios:

Detox Leakage

Detox Leaks

It’s open to debate if Dr. Dre’s Detox, Aftermath’s biggest publicity stunt most elusive disc will ever see the light of day. Personally, I wouldn’t bet on it ever dropping.

To hold the fiends over if it ever does come out, fellow Rap Up Brain Trustee J to the AAP gathered the reference tracks up for a comprehensive 9-track EP. Artists like T.I., Ludacris, Crooked I, & Nino Bless do their best Dre impression to give a glimpse to what the final product might sound like on Neveruary 29, 2012.

Big thanks to J to the AAP and the TRU familia, check out the track list and download link below. Let’s pray that the Doc finally revives our dying artform sometime in the not-so-distant future, Enjoy!

Download: Dr. Dre – Detox (The Leaks) EP
