Jay-Z ft. Mr Hudson – Young Forever [Video]

Hate all you want, and Lord knows there’s many a hater when it comes to this jawn, but I fux with it.

Hov and Mr Hudson link for this video off BP3, which is actually a better album now that I haven’t listened in a few weeks. I dig the black-and-white visuals of this vid, it’s a good balance for the song’s emotive content.

Hat tip to Marcus Troy, Enjoy!

Run This Town Tonight

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Okay, maybe you haven’t, but I have. Tonight, Shawn Carter will be tearing down Madison Square Garden for his 9-11 tribute concert/ album release bonanza and your boy will be in attendance for the festivities.

Though Blueprint 3 has been met with tepid reviews from critics – just peep my Brain Trust familia’s reviews at The Rap Up – it’s still a solid album compared to most and I’m dumb excited to see the best rapper alive perform. It’s Shawn Carter, at MSG, on a historic day in both hip-hop history and the history of our great country.

For those with tickets, let’s have an epic night. For those without, you can catch the concert on FuseTV at 9 PM.

Let’s take a moment of silence to remember those who gave their lives during the World Trade Center attacks, then throw up a diamond ’cause the Roc will be in the building!

Sound Table 9/2/09

The internets have been blown up this week by two of the most anticipated albums of the year, Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 and Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. II.

You thought I’m gonna post the full versions? Ha! What I will do is include my favorite tracks in this edition of the Sound Table, plus links to some early reviews for each album and an interesting article about the 10 producers that could’ve saved BP3.

Anyways, go out and support both MC’s next week. Enjoy!

The Best Rapper Alive..

.. will be performing on September 11th at Madison Square Garden, the same day as his album drops. If you don’t know the name by now, I can’t help ya.

Where will you be?

Shouts to the homies at Broken Cool for the visual.

(Arguably the best rapper alive, of course. No Martian. Rakim, Kool G, KRS, Nasir, Eminem, Andre 3K are all contenders, but you get my point.)

Get Yours: Nowalataz

This is hands down one of the best instrumental albums I’ve heard all year. I’ve been vibing to it all afternoon.

I know everyone is yapping about the BP3 and OB4CLII leaks (rightfully so), but don’t pass up this Dilla-inspired collection of beats from fellow Michigan producer 14KT that hit the ‘net last week months ago in internet time.

In the words of 14KT himself:

Whatupdoe? First off, I must say THANK YOU for supporting me and my music!! As a result of your support, I want to share some upcoming music from my 2nd album entitled Nowalataz.

Also due to the success of my first album, The Golden Hour, I will be releasing The Golden Hour 2XLP on (LIMITED EDITION GOLD VINYL w/ Full Cover Artwork) coming end of September. I will also be on tour with Mayer Hawthorne x Buff1 x Houseshoes beginning September 5th. A physical release of the Nowalataz Digital/CD is in the works.

Here it is.. a project I unofficially had done since 2006. It started when James Yancey (aka J Dilla) passed that February. To cope with the death of my favorite producer, who I liked to call my unofficial “musical mentor”, I started making “donuts” … uncontrollably.

Fellow heads should be excited to see that last track “Black & Gold” featuring none other than celebrated producer Black Milk.

Peep the download link below. Shouts to Freestyle Madness for the inspiration, Enjoy!

Obligatory Jay-Z & Drake Post

By now I’m sure you’ve heard the long-awaited cut “Off That” by Hov & Drizzy off Blueprint 3 produced by Timbaland.

I’m content with Drake solely on the hook since I’m positive he can’t keep up with the living legend just yet. I’d also love to hear more from Timbo on BP3, but No-ID and Kanye ain’t bad at all.

Peep the download links below. What do y’all think?
