The Antidote

Fashawn

Here’s a fresh tape from Fresno, Cali spitter Fashawn, The Antidote. Why should you be excited? It’s entirely produced by the Alchemist and Fa is a real dope lyricist from the Left Coast. Peep this previous Sound Table for evidence.

Check the release:

While the West Coast keeps bubbling with talent, Fashawn has to be one on the forefront of the movement. With breakout tapes like One Shot, One Kill with Mick Boogie and Higher Learning, Fashawn is out to prove he can spit with the best of them. His debut album Boy Meets World (entirely produced by Exile) drops October 20th, and while this has a different sound than the album, an entire tape produced by Alchemist is an achievement on its own. Expect that gutter, “razor under the tongue rap” on this. Fresno, CA has once again found a new voice.

A mixtape over Alchemist beats and an LP produced by Exile? It’d be a shame to sleep.

Shouts to the homie Robbie from Unkut for the heads up on this tape, Enjoy!

Alchemist

Seasoned beat-maker Alchemist drops his second album Chemical Warfare today. It’s entirely produced by him, and this time around he also opts to hop on the mic more than 2004’s 1st Infantry.

Featuring guest verses from Kool G Rap, KRS-One, Snoop Dogg, Evidence, Talib Kweli, Prodigy, Fabolous, Gangrene (Oh No + Alchemist) and more, this LP is a must-have for your 2009 hip-hop collection.

4th of July Half Time Mix

Happy 4th of July

While I’m working on a half-time recap piece for one of my favorite websites (you’ll know soon enough), I put together this mix of some of the year’s best hip-hop tracks thus far.

You’ll hear everything from mainstream jams by Fabolous and Maino to underground gems from Doom and Wu-Tang Clan, a concise wrap up of the best of the first half of ’09.

Spark up the BBQ (among other things, if that’s ya style), grab an ice-cold Old English and bump this for the ingredients for a dope Independence Day celebration, Enjoy!
