A while ago, I placed a moratorium on all American Gangster remix albums after an influx of sub-par projects dropped when Def Jam/Roc-A-Fella liberated the acapellas. As much as I liked the album, hearing the same Hov verses over mediocre production became morbidly redundant.
However, I’m lifting my ban temporarily to hook y’all up with a dope project by the homie Beewirks. American Racketeer is a refreshing blend made back in ’07 by the BX-bred beatsmith that currently reps Pittsburgh, a set of soulful samples and crisp drums for an all-around enjoyable listen.
Whether it’s the bouncy horns on “American Dreamin” or the James Brown-laden groove of “Hello Brooklyn,” Beewirks crafted a one-of-a-kind remix disc that intensifies rather than attempts to outshine the original content.
I gotta give a big shout to the man himself for the heads up. You already know the track list, so press play (no Diddy) and vibe out. Enjoy!
