I haven’t seen this mix by the everlasting Joshua ”DJ Shadow” Davis, a personal favorite of mine, posted anywhere besides my local torrent community. So it’s only right I share this special live mix with everyone.
Shadow spun this particular blend of musical beauty last Halloween night at LA’s Legendary Park Plaza for KCRW’s Masquerade Ball. He rocked his now famous sampling technique amid pinpoint scratching and nifty mixing for his set, which clocked in at a little under two hours.
Oh, did I mention he played Serato-free? To you newjacks out there, this means he lugged crate upon crate busting at the seams with vinyl (gasp!) to represent with two turntables and a sampler like few can these days, for the true school.
I’d much rather have been scoping pretty ladies to DJ Shadow’s tune’s then whatever lame dime-a-dozen DJ played where I was that night, but at least I can envision what it would have been like to be there thanks to whoever recorded this.
Shouts to the generous folks of ****.cd (what, you thought I’d give my secrets away? You crazy, homes) for seeding this torrent, Enjoy!
Other than the slight weakness of the poppy The Third Hand, Ramble John “RJD2″ Krohn has maintained a strong track record throughout his almost decade-long tenure.
Hopefully, RJD2 sticks to his guns on his upcoming album TheColossus, coming soon on his recently-created RJ’s Electrical Connections label. Judging by the leaks, it should be a sweet return-to-form that fans like myself have been requesting for years.
He’s also created an iPhone app alongside Future Audio Workshop called “Touch Mix“ where fans can remix cuts and hear samples from the upcoming LP. One question though, where’s the love for us BlackBerry users, mayne?!
Anyways, check out his video up top for “Let There Be Horns” directed by Thom Glunt for a preview of what to expect. He’s going on tour beginning in Washington D.C. this weekend, so I’ve posted the dates below.
The Colossus drops Tuesday, January 19th. Shout to the man himself for the heads up. Support the artists, Enjoy!
So, I’m pushing this CD/DVD set to anyone who wants to up their collection. It features live renditions of some personal favorites like “Good Life,” “Touch The Sky” and “Heartless” plus 3 bonus tracks including my jam “Homecoming.”

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Okay, maybe you haven’t, but I have. Tonight, Shawn Carter will be tearing down Madison Square Garden for his 9-11 tribute concert/ album release bonanza and your boy will be in attendance for the festivities.
Though Blueprint 3 has been met with tepid reviews from critics – just peep my Brain Trust familia’s reviews at The Rap Up – it’s still a solid album compared to most and I’m dumb excited to see the best rapper alive perform. It’s Shawn Carter, at MSG, on a historic day in both hip-hop history and the history of our great country.
For those with tickets, let’s have an epic night. For those without, you can catch the concert on FuseTV at 9 PM.
Let’s take a moment of silence to remember those who gave their lives during the World Trade Center attacks, then throw up a diamond ’cause the Roc will be in the building!
Looks like Blueprint 3 sprung a serious leak this morning, as features with Kanye and J Cole have hit the ‘nets. I’ll post the links but I haven’t heard ‘em yet since I’m at the executive office.
Another bit of info dropped today about the September 11th concert Hov is throwing at MSG. According to Answer the Call, tickets go on sale Sept. 8 and are $50. You’ll know more when I do.
[Edit] The internet presale starts at 9 AM EST on Sept. 8 for Citi Card members only, then at noon they go on sale to the public. I knew that college credit card would pay off sometime! Check out Ticketmaster for more info.
Happy hip-hop heads, at least for 4 min and 58 seconds.
I’m think this is a remix to “Exhibit A”actually Exhibit B since my sources tell me that Justin Blaze is keeping strict tabs on the MP3′s of the other two parts of the triology. Shit, He needs to go ‘head and liberate B & C, I know they’re out there! (I see you Beewirks!)
This weekend, Fuse is airing an exclusive performance by Kanye West from the Chicago Theatre. Yeezy’s recent live show benefited his own Kanye West Foundation and Students Helping Our World (SHOW).
Since Word Press is being a pain in my ass [II] trying to embed the sneak peak video, check it out here along with some more info at Fuse’s website. If I’m around a TV, I’ll check it out but Saturday night? Doubt it. I bet I’ll have to get my DVR on.
