With Wu-Tang Clan’s Chamber Music dropping today, which RZA notes is “not a Wu-Tang Clan album – but it’s pretty close,” I dug up this vintage Wu freestyle from ’93 on Stanford, CA radio station KZSU.
Though only Method Man, Ghostface and Masta Killa hop on the mic, it’s a lesson in what constitutes a true cypher – not a BlackBerry-assisted pre-written “freestyle” that we see too often today. This is right around the time of “Protect Ya Neck” and Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), so you already know the caliber of rhymes to expect.
Download the freestyle below to show the children what real hip-hop is and pick up your copy of Chamber Music here, Enjoy!
